Print Making Project

The making of this print was a very long but somewhat intesting process.  First I had to make a sketch with all of the details I wanted to include into my print.  After this I then copied the sketch multiple times and shaded the parts I would cut away from the linoleum.  I then transferred the image to the linoleum, and tediously cut away the shaded parts using a gouging tool with various sized bits.  When I had finished cutting, I began with the ink application.  With a braer tool I had to evenly spread the ink onto the linoleum and carefully place it onto the paper.  This project was very tedious and repetitive but the final product turned out to be very interesting.  I had alot of success in making my sketches and cutting away the linoleum, but when it came to applying I had a lot of difficulty in making the ink even.  I also found if very difficult to create contrast within the print. I learned from this project that patience is rewarded, because when I tried to rush my prints suffered and it just looked really rough.  I really enjoyed this project and feel that it was one of my better pieces, but could still use a lot of improvement.
